Technology nowadays has gotten a lot more sophisticated. Our company has been using scanners during patrols. This has allowed us to cut down on paper reports, and it is much easier for guards to do their rounds. After ensuring an area is secure, the guards scan a barcode indicating that they have patrolled that particular area. As they scan, the barcode notes down the date and time of the scan. This technology has allowed us to use electronic reporting, so that the administrator does not need to decode the guards’ chicken scratch.
However, scanning barcodes in not enough. ChekOne has developed a new technology that creates more accountability for guards. The scanners now have GPS locators to make sure that guards are always on site patrolling the area. Furthermore, there is now no need for guards to call the dispatch office which increases costs for a security company. The scanners have unique identification codes for each guard, so that the company is able to track which guard is on duty and their time of arrival and departure at the site. The new scanners still have the benefits of the older version scanners, but come with many newer gadgets.
